Crouching low to the ground and kneading the ground with his large paws, Rainstar's eyes were fixed on the mouse right ahead of him. He licked his lips. He hadn't had anything to eat all day, and he had already contributed to the fresh-kill pile, so why not eat?
The gray tom stalked slowly and silently forward, getting in pouncing range of the mouse. He pushed off the ground with his back legs, and landed on the mouse, biting if before it gave off a warning call. The mouse was fairly scrawny, but it would be enough for Rainstar. He just needed something to eat. Anything would do.
Taking a bite into the still warm prey, he purred in satisfaction. Though LabrynthClan lived under the ground, the prey was running well these days. Clan life was going well too. This kind of news always made Rainstar happy.
Quickly finishing the prey, he padded back to his den for a good nights sleep. He had been tired for awhile now. Opening his jaws wide, he gave a loud yawn, that seemed to echo around his den. Rolling his eyes slightly, he laid his head on his paws, and began to sleep.

Ridgeheart watched her brother eat. He was definately the attractive one of them two, even she had to admit it. His coat was so nice. Why didn't hers look like that? She wanted stripes that dark. Why was she so self-concious? Was it weird she even thought about this? Just then, Birdbat looked up, and Ridgeheart quickly averted her gaze to the half-eaten mouse resting between her paws. She wasn't that hungry. She never was. Was it weird, she wondered, that she ate so little? Would the otheres think she was eating what she caught outside of camp? She would never! She decided she'd have to hunt more so they'd know she wasn't breaking the warrior code. But she still felt bad not finishing her mouse.
"You want this?" Ridgeheart asked in her naturally quiet voice, not looking up at birdbat as she asked the question.
"Not particularly." Birdbat relpied in his his prim and proper voice, looking at Ridgeheart and just slightly turning his head in her direction. He was so cool. Why wasn't she cool? Ridgeheart looked up at him solemnley. It wouldn't be a serious situation to anyone else, just an unfinished mouse, but everything was a big deal to Ridgeheart. She was always so afraid of what others thought of her. Birdbat couldn't give a mouse's tail about what others thought of him. Why wasn't she like that? Birdbat rolled his eyes. He hated that look of hers - she looked so sad. "Its not a big deal, Ridgeheart, its a mouse." He mewed, not annoyed, but not soothing at all, either. indiffrent. Ridgeheart could never pull off 'indiffrent'. She looked away. Birdbat gave a defeated sigh. "Altright." He mewed reluctantly, scootching the small, half-eaten mouse over to himself with his oversized paw.
"Thank you." Ridgeheart mewed. Her tone would sound the same as always to most - but it was diffrent to Birdbat. It was releived and thankful. He knew her very well, and on top of that, he was remarcable at reading body language. It was uncanny - a few cats had even thought him to be phycic. He wasn't of course, that was impossible, but he still always knew what you were feeling, and could more often than not figure out what you were thinking, with his special skill of reading body-language and his natural smartness. One had to be careful around Birdbat.

It was slightly dark, but due to the sun being high in the sky, warm rays of light filtered in through the holes in the ground, lighting up the camp slightly. Rainstar emerged from his den, his large paws clearly weren't trying to be careful not to make any noise as he padded toward High Pile. It was where all the meetings were held. Basically, it was a large mound of dirt. He slowly made his way up High Pile. This time, he planned to have a little fun with this ceremony, placing apprentices with mentors, who's personalities were very different. Almost opposite. He also should appoint a deputy, but he wasn't sure if now was the time to do so. He could feel the paw prints that were forever imprinted into the dirt. Smiling to himself, he finally reached the top. A aura of pride surrounded him as he looked down onto the camp. Shaking his head, he freed himself of these thoughts. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey meet under High Pile for a clan meeting!" he yowled the words that were etched into his memory. As leader, he had learned those words when he held the first Clan meeting. Rolling his eyes, he waited for every one of his Clan members to gather around High Pile.
A dark form streaked from the apprentices den. Her legs were long, and paws were small, giving her a good advantage for a fast run. She could even keep up with the fastest warrior with ease. Well, maybe that was saying a bit to much, but that was how Darkpaw was. Settling down beneath High Pile, she watched Rainstar silently, wondering who her mentor was to be. She hoped she wouldn't get someone who was to different, otherwise, there may be problems. Sadly, she had no idea that it was exactly what Rainstar was planning, nor who her mentor would be, that would have to suffer through Darkpaw's short fuse, almost every day. She didn't really have anyone she wanted to be her mentor, as she never really got to know anyone. There was only one other apprentice that she knew of. Zirconpaw. She found him slightly annoying, and tried to avoid him at all times. Shaking her head, she was brought back to what was happening now. She was about to get a mentor.

Birdbat was on his feet instantly, striding towards the High Pile. Ridgeheart scampered after him, taking a seat beside him. A mentoring, most likely. She knew Darkpaw was in need of a mentor and wondered who it would be.

Dawnmist padded into the underground tunnels just as Rainstar called a meeting from the HighPile. She set down her thrush in the fresh-kill pile and padded over to sit next to her brother, Raccoonmask, who was already seated at the bottom.
"It would be awesome if I could mentor Darkpaw," he meowed. "I've always wanted to mentor a cat."
Dawnmist smiled and nodded. "I wonder who Rainstar will choose." she replied.
The gray-and-white she-cat looked to her right and spotted her friends Birdbat and Ridgeheart. "Hey guys," she meowed. "Who do you think Rainstar's going to choose? Raccoonmask really wants to be Darkpaw's mentor, and I think it would be pretty cool, but kinda hard, you know?"

Birdbat nodded to the two. "I'm sure whoever Rainstar picks will be suited for the job - Though it is tough. I've had an apprentice and, for me, patience is the issue. its not something that comes to me naturally." He mewed. Ridgeheart shrugged. "I think it sounds fun." She mewed.

"LabrynthClan didn't have enough warriors, when Darkpaw became an apprintice, so we won't be holding the full ceremony. Just giving her a mentor. Raccoonmask? You will mentor this Apprentice. I hope you pass on your dedication and perserverance to this apprintice." he said, before jumping off of High Pile, and padding into his den, tail high. He couldn't wait to see how this would play out.
Darkpaw froze. Raccoonmask? She didn't really know this warrior, and thats what made her hezatate to touch noses with him. She wasn't the most excited or friendliest apprintice. Padding toward her new mentor, she reached her nose out, following the way that StarClan had set for them so long ago.

Dawnmist nodded. "Yeah, it would be cool, but I would worry that I'm teaching the apprentice wrong - " she said, then stopped when Rainstar began to speak. When she heard her brother's name, she gasped. "Raccoonmask, that's you!" she cried.
Raccoonmask couldn't believe his ears. He got to his paws instantly and padded to the base of the High Pile, where Darkpaw waited to touch noses with him. He touched his nose to the apprentice's, his heart looping with excitement.
"Hello, I'm Raccoonmask, as you know...but don't speak, because of your vigil, of course - " he meowed, realizing he wasn't sounding too impressive. He paused, then just nodded to his new apprentice. "I'll see you tomorrow for your training." he said, then turned and padded back to his sister and friends.
"I can't believe I'm Darkpaw's mentor," he said, sitting beside them, "I'm so happy, and really excited, but now I'm kind of nervous, too." He shrugged. "Can't be that hard, right?" he asked, starting to smile.
Dawnmist just shrugged. "You tell me," she replied.

FrostPelt sat in her den. Her frosty white pelt perfectly clean. She was thinking if she'd made the right choice in being medicine cat. She only became one, because her mother was gone now. But still even now she wonders if she should've followed her heart rather then her mothers. Her brother and sister went missing, leaving the job of being medicine cat up to her. Sometimes she thinks it was the worst choice of her life. Other times she thinks its rather fine being medicine cat. She can never love though, her heart longs for someone to love, and love her in return. That is why she wishes her brother and or sister hadn't goe missing. She would always be allowed to love them. All she can have are friends, nothing more. She ponders over this often, but know she can't change her mind. Its much too late to change her mind, she's in too deep to turn around.

Russetfur sat up with a jolt. He shook his head and looked around, he was in the warrior den. He let the hair on his back and scruff lie flat again. He had another dream of his sister and father, the rogues. His father was a power hungry and greedy cat. He feared the day anyone crossed him. With sadness clouding his eyes he couldn't help thinking why his sister had left the clan to be a rogue with their father. His sister was all he had and even she had abandoned him. He sat up and gave himself a quick washing to settle the rest of his fur before he went outside, he didn't want anyone to see him flustered. He took a step outside the den, the sun immediately lit up his fur. Russetfur had been properly named as a kit for his pelt color. It always looked as if his whole body were stained in cat blood, it was enough to make one tremble. He was a smaller and lean cat, but he was one of the fast cats in the clan, if not the fastest, and he was proud of this, it made up for his size. He trotted over to the fresh kill pile and choose a sparrow. He quickly scarfed it down. He was eager to get out of camp in order to forget his dream. Maybe he could go on a patrol? His tail twitched a bit impatiently.

Among the throng of cats there was two who sat side-by-side, looking as if a mirror was between them. The two siblings quietly mewed together, talking about the events. "I think Raccoonmask will be a great mentor, most definitely." One of the sliver cats mewed softly, obviously the she-cat of the two. The male just nodded, a look of authority and interest on his face. The male- Dewstream- was the Deputy of LabrynthClan, and his sister, Lunartail a warrior.
Slowly Lunartail stood up, arching her back and stretching her paws forward. Feeling a scuff over her ear she looked up, her brother was standing over her, a feline smirk on his lips. "Don't do anything stupid, Lunartail!" He meowed, flicking his ears forward a bit. "I won't, you stupid furball!" Her voice drawled out quietly as she stood up, her body quite a bit smaller than her brother's as she padded over to Raccoonmask, lowering her head down, and her right paw outstretching a little, formally. "Congratulations, Raccoonmask!" She mewed softly before sliding her paw back beside her other paw and raising her head up. "Don't worry, you'll do great!"

Rainstar, having spotted Dewstream, padded toward the other tom. "Dewstream." the leader dipped his head in respect to the deputy. Yes, Rainstar respected every cat in his clan. From the oldest elder to the youngest kit. But he mostly respected Dewstream, as he was his deputy, and did a lot of work. He deserved respect. "Would you mind setting up the patrols for today?" he asked. He glanced to the side, where Darkpaw was glaring at him. He just flicked his tail in amusment, and turned back to the deputy.

"Congradulations, Racoonmask." Birdbat mewed, with a smile. Birdbat had a smile as smart as he was - it was more of a grin actually, and somehow didn't seem like an actual symbol of happieness, just something he did in social situations where it was nesecarry. Of course, it was hard to tell this from his actual smile. But Rapidglance knew the differance, and his lack of sincerity bugged her. But at least he was trying to become less bitter than he had been when he was an apprentice. (He had always thought he was better than everyone due to his superior intelegance. As far as Rapidglance knew, he still did, but he didn't have that attitude he had about it that he used to.)

Raccoonmask smiled at Lunartail and Birdbat as they congradulated him.
"Thanks, guys," he meowed. "I hope I'll remember everything I learned when I was an apprentice..." his voice trailed off, then he swallowed hard and sat up. "I'll be fine," he meowed, smiling. He was glad he had his friends to support him.
Dawnmist smiled as her friend, Lunartail, padded up. "Hey Lunartail," she purred. "I can't wait until Raccoonmask messes up, so we can hold it against him!" She giggled at her brother's apalled look. "I'm just kidding," she meowed, flicking him with her tail. "I know you'll do great."

Lunartail smiled at Dawnmist, mewing lightly. "Hello Dawnmist!" Her mew turning more into a 'mrowrr' near the suffix of her friend's name. Her long, fluffy tail twitched with amusement as Dawnmist jokingly taunted her brother.
Dewstream bowed his head, extended his front paw as his sister had. "Of course, Rainstar. I'll get right on that!" He mewed quietly, standing up to his full stature again. The silver tabby padded along, his unique eyes scanning for cats to go on patrol. His eyes landed on a few and he broke into a slow bound towards them. "Birdbat, Dawnmist, would you like to join me on a patrol?" He asked, lowering his head for a moment before raising it.
